Photographer influence

From when I was 13 years old that I like take pictures. My father gave to me a manual camera for that birthday. So I think that I maturate a kind of experience in it. I'm also sure that I'm not an artist and I need to learn a lot of things about it. Every time that I look at a picture I like I always try to memorize the style and try to make an imitation the first time that I have the occasion. For example I like pictures taken during the night where you can see the car light that are making red or white line on the road. When I sow it for the first time, once time that I understood how they can do it, I imitate it. So now, when I have the occasion to do it I like take one like that.
Now that I see the Diane and other artist pictures I can say that I got that the sight in a picture is very important and that can gives a lot of power at image and they remember how the black and white is so beautiful.

Diane

Diane Arbus was an important photographer of the 20th century. Her pictures are very intensive. She liked to take pictures of normal people, but she thought that persons have a mask, and the only people that has a real face are the disable people. So in her secon part of her career she took some interesting pictures of disable people. Anyways, all of that "portait" have an intensive sight. The picture glues you and you can feel the passion that she had to take this picture. I think she really wanna trasmit how is strong the power of the soul trow the eyes.
It wasn't so easy understand the real meaning of her pictures, but I think that looking at pictures with Chen was very usuful. Togheter we could understand a lot of things that without a discussion I shouldn't understand.
Since now I hadn't find too many problems but the most intersting thing and at same time the most hard thing has been to have a discussion about the pictures.

I think that one of the hardest part is understand the real meaning of the first part of her job, while she was taking pictures for magazine. I'm actually reading some articles but without a real respons. I hope that for the next thursday I will find something interesting :)

With this I'll come back at my presentation...hopfully ready in two days..

Art or not art

There are a lot of kind of artist and a lot of kind of arts. We have just find which kind of art like to us. For example mr. Mapplethorpe is considering an artist right? For me he is not. If I look at some his pictures I can feel just something disgusting. I will never want one of his pictures on my wall. Edward Weston is just different for me. He is more "soft", but I don0t like his art anyways. But among all the artists that we have seen in the last lesson the worst for me is andreas serrano. His "shitty" pictures are horrible. Who is the most artistic? No one. Why? Maybe I can't understand them, I don't know. They are so strange.
All the modern arts is strange and I think that is harder to understand.
I love photography. I love take pictures. But I don't like this kind of pictures.

I really don't know what else I could say. :)

Presentation experience

What can I say about the class's presentations...

During my university experience I had done a lot of presentations because every progects should be presented at the professor with a power point. I think that the most hard thing is work in a group because it's not so easy be agree with the other member of the group.

My class group had been a very good group. We could work togheter in a good way and I think that our job has been appreciated.

I think that one presentation has to be simple and has to understand to the listeners the main argument, it has not to be too much longer or with an entire paragraph. For this reason I think that our group has worked well. Our presentation focused the main point and we talk about that point.

I liked very much also the Daniel and Mandy presentation for the originality. A new way to show a job or a project. Very nice.

I saw very interesting things and I think that all the class invested a lot of time to explain their ideas. I think that we should work more to learn our speech, so we can have more contact with the listeners and have presentation more interactive.

People could work hard all their lives and still lose everything.

Madonna?

I'm always be impressed from Madonna even if I'm not a her big fan. I think that she is an alternative singer that gave music world something different. She is a rebel singer. She doesn't care about the judgment of the society. I don't know if she really believe in her songs but I think that it doesn't matter because we recive some messages from her songs and this is not going to change with her thinking. She wants appear like a transgressive woman. It's ok. She gives us an openness message.
Everybody should be free to choose about his lifestyle and Madonna help this people to believe in what they think was right.

I have a dream

Martin Luther King talks about a dream. This dream is about equality among every people on earth and especially bewtween African American and White people. During the years after the World War II black people weren't considerate equal to white people so they couldn't use the same bus or the same houses. The MLK dream means freedom. The MLK dream means equality.
But when I think the American Dream I think about another thing. In Europe in the 60's American Dreams meant to have a "better life" . The United States had to be a country where If you work hard you would be happy and have a perfect family, a big house and a big cars. Maybe in 60's this could be the best dream that everbody could imagine. But I feel that the 60's American Dream was something fake. Something based on consumerism. "If you want to be happy you have to buy this. And in the USA you can have it!". Certainly this my opinion is influenced by movies or articles that I've seen or read.
I think that now the time is changed and the American Dream is not the same.
I think that now foreign people belive in a different American Dream than before.
In USA if you are a smart person that you like to work you can find a very good job and earn a lot. But the life style is completely different from Europe. I feel that here is more difficult to build a good personal life and find friends. I could be wrong but this is what I perceive now.

In Italy I've never heard about an Italian Dream that could be similar to the American Dream.
My dream should be understand why a prime minister can have all the television and the news paper...how is it possible?

I'm just livin' out the American Dream
And I just realized that nothing is what it se
ems.
